My New Fireplace with Hearth & Home

Hey friends! I am excited to be sharing some photos of my new fireplace insert from Hearth & Home. Ripping out my old and tired river rock fireplace wasn’t originally part of my remodel plans, but the more we progressed in the design, the more it became clear that a new fireplace was needed. Our original gas insert was noisy and didn’t put out much heat. And can we talk about that fake river rock surround. Eek!! Take a look at the before here:

Steve Tiek from Tiek Design Group put together these renderings of a suggested fireplace. I couldn’t go with an open flame fireplace because of the cost involved in restructuring the vents and gas lines, so I decided to see what Hearth & Home had available that looked similar to to this concept:

I was nervous at the idea of ripping out a fireplace because it seemed like a daunting task. I called Hearth & Home and they came out to my home to measure things and to reassure me that ripping out the rock fireplace and insert was possible and something they do all the time. They brought catalogs and brochures that I could look through to find the fireplace insert that would work best in my space. I wanted to pick an insert that already fit into the current space so that I didn’t have to reframe, move gas lines, or do any additional demolition. Kyle from Hearth & Home helped point me in the right direction to fireplaces that were the same size as my current insert and would involve the least invasive was to get it in where the existing fireplace was.

I ended up choosing a clean-faced gas fireplace insert with an interior herringbone brick pattern. I loved the minimal look of the insert. There weren’t any grills of vents on the front of it, and it made the fireplace actually look bigger and open, just like the renderings I was working from. It looked modern, yet homey. I was also able to choose the type of log I wanted in the fireplace. I chose a white birch log.

I was so happy when demo day came. I was definitely ready to say goodbye to the river rock fireplace. The guys from Hearth & Home showed up on time, worked hard, and masked off the area they were working in to keep the rest of my home clean. They did an excellent job and I can’t recommend them enough.

Best Day Ever!!!!

And without further ado, the finished product:

Isn’t that the best upgrade ever?! I am beyond happy with the finished result. Aside from how gorgeous the fireplace is, the insert works like a dream. It runs quiet and puts out good heat. It also has so many options such as a temperature gauge, size of flame, and interior lights. I absolutely LOVE it and can’t wait for the weather to start cooling down again so I can turn it on in the mornings. My favorite thing to do before the kids wake up in the morning is to sit by the fire with a warm cup of tea. Thank you Hearth & Home !
